Birthday Boy!

26 years ago (as of this last Tuesday 10/05/2010) a sweet baby boy was born. A little toe-head who would soon grow up to be an intelligent, witty, fun, and an oh so handsome man.  Who is this man I speak of? MY HUSBAND of course!!!!

Handsome 26 year old
I feel so fortunate to have this sweet guy in my life. He brings me and so many around him, so much joy and happiness. I don't think he truly knows how fantastic he is.

He says he had a great birthday this year, and perhaps this is why:

I get up every morning and make his breakfast and lunch, and the morning of his birthday I snuck in a little surprise.... I had purchased a sandwich from his favorite sandwich shop and hid it in the fridge the night before. In the morning when I should have been making his sandwich, I was trying to hide the one I purchased in his lunchbox. I even took regular bread and put it in a sandwich bag and placed it on top, so if he opened the box, he would think it was a regular sandwich. I was pretty proud and excited for him to find it. He found his sandwich before work started because he had to get out his vitamins to eat with his breakfast. But he said the only give-a-way was the little bag of Doritos (which are quite the treat) he saw when he went in for the vitamins. Dang it! But he was surprised nonetheless and enjoyed every bite of the sandwich. *Whew*

The evening of his birthday came more surprises. We had dinner at his parents' house, where we were having breakfast for dinner. (Taylor's favorite) His mom surprised him with biscuits and gravy ALONG with all of the other hashbrowns, toast, sausage, and eggs. Needless to say he had a FULL belly.

For dessert, I had made a homemade coffee cake (which I hadn't ever made before) which I think turned out okay. There weren't any left overs! I thought it was a little thick and a tad dry, but I am my worst critic. The cake didn't LOOK very delicious, but everyone seemed to like it.

Table talk after dinner: Bill, Taylor, Chris, Dom, Parker
On to PRESENTS! Taylor had one gift that he reallllly wanted and it took a lot of self-control for him NOT to buy it for himself before his birthday (which he is known for doing)

I hope I get some of those Starbursts....what's his is mine right? ;-)

Taylor with Iron Man 2
Iron Man 2! He never saw it in the theatre like he wanted to, so was really looking forward to seeing it. He got it! Thanks to his brother Parker, who also supplied a pretty awesome Iron  Man gift bag and candy!

From his sister, her boyfriend and niece, he got a gift card to Cabelas! He was pretty excited about that too!
Dom and her funny birthday cards
From his parents, his Mom surprised him with a costume he had worn when he was a little boy, that he never wanted to part with. Now he can pass the costume on to one of his kids and they can be in a pet parade...
His parents also got him another Simpsons season, of which he hadn't purchased for himself.....yet
Simpsons 20th Season
His Dad made him a really sweet gift: a coupon book with a bunch of different activities for just the two of them to do together. Taylor read each coupon in a funny voice, so it kind of took away from the sweetness of the gift, but Bill put a lot of work into the coupon book.

Lastly, Taylor's gifts from me. I must say that I was SOOOO excited to pick out a birthday card for him this year. Why? Because I was able to pick out a card from the HUSBAND section! From the bottom of my heart, I was really THAT excited about it.

The first gift I gave him was a watch. He had been wanting a new watch for months and months and I kept talking him out of getting a new one. Picking out a watch isn't easy, but he seemed to like my choice.

Lastly, the present I was MOST excited about, because my husband is the best guesser of presents ever, and I always get bummed out when he guesses correctly....I KNEW he wouldn't ever guess the present I special ordered for him, and I was right!
John Deere Headphones
Yes, John Deere headphones! He had purchased a cheap random brand pair that didn't fit, but made them work. He listens to his iPod under the head phones when he mows the lawn, but he deserved a pair that fit and that actually cancel out all other noise. He was surprised and seemed to really like them.

So perhaps his claim to a great birthday isn't too far fetched.

Happy Birthday Husband! I love you!

  1. Taylor,
I am sorry I didn't call or text you on your birthday. I don't have any excuses. Happy (really really) late birthday! I am glad you had a good time on your birthday and hope I can be part of your day next year.
