"The Wall"

When we bought our house in the summer of 2009, the very first project we did was tear down the wall paneling and paint over the yellow paint in our living room. We were under the impression that beneath the wall paneling was a finished wall. You guessed it! We were WRONG! We also tore down the layers upon layers of wall paper in the kitchen, to discover we would also need to finish (texture) the kitchen walls.

I thought there was finished wall underneath?

I wanna help!

One, two, three...

After lots of complaining that all I wanted to do when we first moved in was pull down the paneling and then fix the wall, it wasn't until just recently that Taylor finished! But it has been so worth it to have it done.

Here's the wall after the paneling came down

Unfortunately the wall was very uneven, so Taylor had to mud the wall to make the wall even. Mudding, sanding, mudding, sanding...and this process has been going on for some time now. We just placed a table against the wall and dealt with not being able to use it.

In the kitchen, I couldn't get ALL of the wall paper down, so we eventually learned that we could cover it first with oil based paint, sand over any rough pieces and then texture the wall. Once I painted the wall, we didn't do anything else....until now.

We did finish the painting of the living room, just not the finishing of "the wall".

(remember the yellow?)
So, we have finally finished "the wall". I can't wait to share these changes! It's amazing how great it feels to finally be finished. I can only thank my skilled husband: he was so patient and because he's a perfectionist, he spend lots and lots of time making it perfect. I love him so much.
Updates to follow!

  1. That is looking good. We can't even say that we own a home. We have been looking but no luck yet. It will be a little bit too becuase the snow should melt before we look at property.
